WHAT EXACTLY IS HYPNOSIS?
Hypnosis is an altered state of mental awareness during which the subconscious mind becomes actively receptive to suggestion or direct conditioning. A change in the mental process is achieved by lulling the physical body and conscious mind into an extremely relaxed and positive condition, closely resembling natural sleep.
WHY DOES HYPNOSIS WORK?
Because the therapist deals directly with the subconscious mind. A direct suggestion accepted by the subconscious mind becomes a literal and true part of the person's life.
CAN JUST ANY PERSON BE HYPNOTIZED?
No, however, most people can be placed in a state of hypnosis if they make no effort to resist. The level of depth varies with the individual's ability to respond.
ARE THE RESULTS OF HYPNOSIS PERMANENT?
Under proper supervision the desired changes become a permanent and natural part of the individual's life.
DOES HYPNOSIS CURE PROBLEMS?
No. A hypnotist does not practice medicine, nor does she "cure" anything. Hypnotism is a didactic form of mind training in which the patient learns to resolve his own problems. All hypnosis is self hypnosis - the therapist simply leads the subject to a positive emotional change.
